Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information is collected when you use CalcBrook (calcbrook.com), how it is used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at contact@calcbrook.com.
Summary
- You do not need an account to use CalcBrook, and we do not ask for your name or contact details.
- The numbers you enter into our calculators are processed in your browser and are not sent to us.
- We show ads from Google, which may use cookies and similar technologies. Where the law requires it — including in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland — we ask for your consent first.
Information we collect
Calculator inputs
Calculations happen on your device. We do not receive or store the measurements, prices or other values you enter.
Preferences stored on your device
We save your choice of US or UK units in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This stays on your device and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Server and security logs
Our hosting and content delivery provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This data is used for security and reliability, not to identify you.
Analytics
We may use privacy-focused analytics that do not use cookies or track you across sites, to count visits and understand which calculators are useful. These statistics are aggregated and do not identify individual visitors.
Advertising and cookies
CalcBrook is free because it is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (UK and Europe).
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Consent in the UK, EEA and Switzerland
If you visit from the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform lets you accept or refuse advertising cookies and choose your preferences. You can change your choices at any time using the “Privacy & cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. If you refuse, you may still see non-personalised ads.
US state privacy rights
Residents of some US states, including California, have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Where applicable, a message is shown that lets you exercise this choice. You can also use a browser setting that sends the Global Privacy Control signal.
How long information is kept
We do not hold accounts or calculator data. Security logs kept by our hosting provider are retained only for as long as needed for security and reliability. Cookies set by advertising partners are kept according to their own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or US state laws such as the CCPA — you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we collect very little personal information directly, many requests are best made to Google through the links above, but we will help where we can: email contact@calcbrook.com. In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
CalcBrook is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in some countries). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Links to other sites
Our pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
